A familiar voice to anchor Augusta National Women's broadcast

His voice is familiar to golf fans but this will be his first broadcast from the hallowed grounds of Augusta National

Network coverage of the Augusta National Women’s Amateur just got a voice. NBC Sports announced Tuesday that veteran announcer Mike Tirico will be the play-by-play host for both the ANWA and the Drive, Chip and Putt National Finals. They are two events celebrating different sectors of the game in the lead-up to the Masters.

The ANWA is a 54-hole event that takes place April 3-6. The first 36 holes will be played on Champions Retreat Golf Club in Augusta, Ga., before the field is cut to 30 players. Every player in the 72-woman field will play a practice round at Augusta National before those top 30 women compete for the trophy at Augusta National.

The final round, to be played Saturday April 6, will be broadcast live on NBC from noon to 3 p.m. eastern.

Tirico will be joined by Paige Mackenzie, Gary Koch, Kay Cockerill, Frank Nobilo, Steve Burkowski and Steve Sands on the NBC telecast.

“In different ways, Augusta National has captivated all of us who love the game,” Tirico said in an NBC Sports press release. “To see this weekend with the inaugural Augusta National Women’s Amateur and Drive, Chip and Putt National Finals together will undoubtedly inspire young golfers across the country.”

In addition to the final-round coverage on NBC, Golf Channel’s “Morning Drive” and “Golf Central” will also offer live updates and coverage from Champions Retreat and/or Augusta National beginning April.
