Finland defeated England by a 5-2 margin in the final at Sporting Club Berlin
To win the title, Finland had to get past England in the final. It did that by a 5-2 margin. The Finnish team got big points early in the day from the foursomes teams of Matias Honkala and Aleski Myllymaki (2-and-1 victory) and Sami Valimaki and Veeti Mahonen (5-and-4 victory). Later in the afternoon, Finland won two singles matches and halved two. Only England’s Gian Marco Petrozzi, who won the New South Wales Amateur in February, took a full point for his team when he defeated Valimaki.
Before reaching the final against England, Finland defeated Germany in the semifinals, 4-3, and Sweden in the quarterfinals, 3-4.
Denmark defeated host Germany in the bronze medal match by a score of 5-2.
