Jay Muller takes Nebraska Senior Match Play

NEBRASKA CITY, NE (September 27, 2016) -- In his third trip to the championship match Jay Muller finally won the Nebraska Senior Match Play title thanks 2&1 win over Rick Dusek in the title match at ArborLinks.

Muller, the 11-seed, jumped out in front early with wins on the first three holes before holding on down the stretch. Leading 3 up with eight holes remaining, Muller watched as Dusek pulled within 2 down after a winning par on No. 13. Two holes later Dusek, the five-seed, got even closer as he reached 1 down with a victory on the 15th.

However, on the ensuing hole, the par-4 16th, Muller knocked his approach shot close and won the hole to regain a 2 up lead. With the match now dormie Muller sealed the deal on No. 17.

Muller reached the finals thanks to a commanding 6&5 win over No. 15 Michael Peterson in the semifinals while for Dusek it was a 1 up triumph over No. 16 Chris Mangan.

ABOUT THE Nebraska Senior Match Play

Entries are open to amateur golfers ages 50 and over who are residents of Nebraska and a member of the Nebraska Golf Association (NGA). The field will be limited to 96 players (48 gross & 48 net). Format is 18-holes of stroke play to determine flights and seeds for match play.
