Joaquin Niemann separated himself from a tight field at the start of the day to win the Boys Division of the IMG Junior World's

SAN DIEGO, CA (July 15, 2016) -- Playing on the South Course at Torrey Pines Joaquin Niemann separated himself from a tight field at the start of the day to win the Boys 15-17 Division of the IMG Junior World's. Niemann finished 12-under to win running away. On the final day Niemann was able to pull away via a nearly flawless 5-under 67. Niemann birdied two of his first three holes and he never looked back. Two more birdies on the front nine followed and they more than offset the lone bogey of the day on No. 8. After turning in 3-under 33 Niemann kept the peddle to the mettle with a bogey-free 2-under 34 on the closing nine. Sam Choi and Josh Armstrong finished in a share for second place a distant 4-under back. Choi held at least a piece of the lead after each of the first three rounds before fading on Friday with a 3-over 75. GIRLS 15-17 DIVISION Nasa Hataoka came from behind to win the Girls 15-17 Division. Hataoka shot an even-par 72 at the La Costa Resort & Spa Legends Course to finish 2-under. In the final round Hataoka birdied two and bogeyed two. Rui Hiraoka and Yuka Saso finished in second place at even-par. Saso started the day in first at 6-under but shot a 6-over 78 on the last day.
