San Francisco City Championship
The Men's Championship Pre-Qualifier offers a competitive route into the main SF City field. Treat it as a tournament within the tournament: your first objective is to earn advancement, then be ready for a different qualifying test immediately afterward.
This is an 18-hole stroke-play event at Lincoln Park on March 5, 2027, for amateurs not selected for the main field. Successful players move into Championship qualifying March 6–7—not directly into match play. The entry limit is 104.
Lincoln is a par-68 coastal course with elevation changes, small greens and exposed holes. Its modest length can be deceptive. The par-3 17th provides the famous Golden Gate Bridge view, but judging the wind matters more than the photograph when every stroke counts.
Player’s approach: favor comfortable approach yardages over maximum distance, and practice controlling trajectory. Lincoln has no full-length driving range, so plan your warm-up before arriving rather than assuming a bucket of balls will be available.
If advancement is your goal, keep the next two days available and arrange flexible travel. Check the organizer’s instructions for the number of available places, tie procedures and next-stage entry requirements; do not assume a qualifying score automatically completes registration.
Entry is $125; an active AmateurGolf.com membership is required separately. Review the registration form before paying. Check your email and the official results page for tee times and pairings.
