The Father & Son Tournament returns in 2026 for its 23rd edition, hosted at the Home of Golf. Inspired by the legacy of Old Tom Morris and his son Tommy, the event celebrates the enduring bond between generations through championship golf, shared experiences, and the traditions of St Andrews.

The Experience

This is more than a tournament — it’s a week of family, camaraderie, and unforgettable golf. Over five days, you’ll compete across 72 holes on some of Scotland’s most iconic courses:

Day 1: Optional round at Dumbarnie Links, check-in at the Old Course Hotel
Day 2: Jubilee Course, St Andrews
Day 3: Carnoustie Championship Course
Day 4: Kingsbarns Links
Day 5: The Old Course, St Andrews
Day 6: Departure

Accommodations are at the renowned Old Course Hotel, with hospitality and views that make each evening as memorable as the golf.

Competition Format

Team Event: 72 holes, Better Ball Stableford scoring (85% handicap allowance). The best net score between partners counts on each hole.
Individual Event (Old Course): Net prizes (95% handicap) and a scratch prize for gross score.
Daily Contests: Nearest-the-pin competitions each round for additional prizes.

The best net score will count at each hole as the team score. The overall winners will be the team with the highest aggregate points over the four rounds.

Two other competitions will run concurrently with the team competition on The Old Course – Individual Stroke Play (Scratch) and Individual Stroke Play (Handicap).
