About the tournament
The Russell Henley Junior Championship presented by Synovus is an exciting new addition to the American Junior Golf Association’s (AJGA) 2025 schedule. Debuting from August 29 to September 1, 2025, the inaugural event will be hosted at Green Island Country Club in Columbus, Georgia—a meaningful homecoming for Russell Henley, former AJGA standout and current PGA Tour winner, fresh off his 2025 Arnold Palmer Invitational victory.
This premier tournament will welcome 78 of the top junior golfers from around the world to compete in a 54-hole stroke play championship on a course renowned for its rich championship tradition and demanding design. The week will kick off with a Junior-Am Fundraising Tournament on August 29, offering players and sponsors a unique opportunity to connect before competition begins. Henley’s involvement ensures a memorable experience for participants, blending world-class competition with the inspiration of one of Georgia’s finest golfing talents.
Tournament Facts
AJGA members must apply during the tournament application window. Entry is determined by Performance Based Entry (PBE) status earned through prior tournament performances. Members without sufficient PBE status can apply to the associated qualifier for a chance to earn a tournament spot.
