The snow has fallen in the midwest and
it's currently falling in the northeast, but in
other parts of the country, the golf
schedule is heating up.
This weekend is a key portion of the early
part of the golf season in many locales
across the country.
The focus among mid-amateurs and
seniors will lie in misty San Francisco
where the nation's oldest municipal
championship concludes.
Match play continues in the men's, senior
and women's events at 'The City' and
amateurgolf.com will continue to provide
coverage throughout the completion at
TPC Harding Park.
The Men's championship moves to the
quarterfinals where top-seeded Andrew
Biggadike and red-hot No. 3 seed Alex
Franklin seem to be on a collision course.
In the women's division, qualifying
medalist Casie Cathrea is a woman on a
mission. She was a big winner in stroke
play and rolled through her Round of 16
matchup. Can her solid play continue
through the weekend?
Finally, the senior division rolls on.
Defending champion Jim Williams, former
winner Gary Vanier, Ken Noonan and Bob
Rowland have their eyes on the prize
when semifinal play begins Saturday
morning.
Also in the pacific northwest, Bandon
Dunes --- and more specifically, the Old
Macdonald course --- hosts the Bandon
Dunes Collegiate Championship. Gonzaga
University serves as the host as some of
the nation's top collegiate players and
teams take aim at the title.
The Southern Highlands Collegiate
Masters also hosts some of the nation's
most promising NCAA players. Top-ranked
Cal will go for its eighth win of the year
against 12 of the top 13 teams in the
country, according to Golfstat.
Amateurgolf.com will have ongoing
coverage of these events and more
throughout the weekend. Click here for the latest
coverage.
