SAN DIEGO, California (June 13, 2008) -- The lowest of the eleven amateurs in the field of the US Open after 18 holes, Rickie Fowler of Murrieta, California had a tough first nine on Saturday and had to fight hard coming in just to stay in it. He made the cut, right on the number of 7-over, but it was a disappointing comeback from a first round 70 that saw him tied for 7th.

Derek Fathauer of Florida has posted two very solid rounds of 73, and is tied for 35th at 146, while 2007 US Amateur runner-up Michael Thompson is one behind him at 147.

Among the eight players will not play on the weekend, Kyle Stanley of Washington will suffer the most heartache -- he wound up in a group of players at plus eight that were all knocked out by Stuart Appleby's birdie on the final hole.
