Terra Cotta Invitational: Uihlein speeds away

Peter Uihlein leaves competition in his wake, with birdies on five of first seven holes on final day

NAPLES, Fla. (April 22, 2007)-- The final round of the 12th annual Terra Cotta Invitational was completely dominated by Peter Uihlein, a high school junior from Bradenton, FL who won by eight strokes. Going into the final day, Uihlein held a two-shot lead over mid amateur and two-time US Mid Amateur Champion, Tim Jackson and Bud Cauley, a junior from Jacksonville, FL. Uihlein proceeded to birdie five of the first seven holes to turn the front nine in 31. He made another birdie at Hole 12 to reach -12 for the tournament. He played the rest of the round in 1-over-par for a total of 205, an 11-under final score. Jackson, Cauley and defending champion, Bank Vongvanij, another junior from Bradenton finished tied for 3rd at 214, 2-under-par. In sole second place was Patrick Reed, a junior from Baton Rouge, LA., who shot a final round of 69 to finish at 213.
