Tee times, pairings for amateurs playing the Masters

Tee times and pairings have been announced for the first two rounds of the Masters tournament. As usual, six amateurs will tee it up this week at Augusta National. Check out who they’ve been paired with.

Thurs. 8:52 a.m./Fri. 11:37 a.m.: Mike Weir, Shane Lowry, Kevin O’Connell

O’Connell will be the latest U.S. Mid-Amateur champion to play beside Weir, the 2003 Masters champion, after Matt Parziale had the honor a year ago. Lowry, an Irishman, won the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship earlier this year, and also won the Irish Open as an amateur in 2009.

Thurs. 9:14 a.m./Fri. 11:59 a.m.: Danny Willett, Brandt Snedeker, Takumi Kanaya

Kanaya, winner of the Asia-Pacific Amateur, grew up idolizing fellow Japanese player Hideki Matsuyama. This week, he’ll play beside 2017 Masters champion Willett as well as Snedeker, whose best Masters finish was a T-3 in 2008.

Thurs. 10:31 a.m./Fri. 1:16 p.m.: Patrick Reed, Webb Simpson, Viktor Hovland

There’s tradition here, of course. Hovland, the reigning U.S. Amateur champion, will play beside defending Masters champion Reed. Simpson, a five-time PGA Tour winner, rounds out the group.

Thurs. 11:37 a.m./Fri. 8:41 a.m.: Trevor Immelman, Martin Kaymer, Devon Bling

The U.S. Amateur runner-up will play beside two major champions. Immelman won the Masters in 2008 while Kaymer won 2010 PGA Championship and the 2014 U.S. Open.

Thurs. 12:10 p.m./Fri. 9:14 a.m.: Bernhard Langer, Matt Wallace, Alvaro Ortiz

Ortiz gained entry by winning the Latin America Amateur earlier this year. He will be the only player from Mexico in the field, and will play alongside Langer, who – for the record – won both of his Masters titles before Ortiz was born in 1995. Langer earned the green jacket in 1985 and in 1993. Wallace, an Englishman, rounds out the group.

Thurs. 12:43 p.m./Fri. 9:36 a.m.: Vijay Singh, Billy Horschel, Jovan Rebula

Rebula, the British Amateur champion, will play alongside 2000 Masters champion Singh, as well as Horschel, who has won on the PGA Tour five times.
