San José State rallies to win Juli Inkster Invitational by one shot

Late surge at TPC Harding Park lifts the Spartans past California as Tova Hatton and Constance Fouillet share medalist honors

San José State, ranked No. 48 in the Scoreboard NCAA Division I rankings, staged a final-round rally to win the Juli Inkster Invitational at TPC Harding Park in San Francisco, finishing at 11-over 875 (285-300-290) for a one-shot victory.

The Spartans began the final round seven shots behind California, but a strong closing stretch turned the tournament in their favor. Over the final nine holes, San José State’s four counting scores combined to play 3-under par, highlighted by seven birdies and 25 pars, allowing the team to edge past the host school.

California finished runner-up at 12-over 876 (286-292-298). Stanford, which had won the previous three editions of the event, did not compete this year.

In the individual competition, Sacramento State sophomore Tova Hatton and California junior Constance Fouillet shared medalist honors at 3-under 213. Hatton posted rounds of 68-72-73, while Fouillet recorded 68-70-75.

Fouillet held the lead for much of the final round and was 2-under through her first 11 holes before a stretch of five consecutive bogeys from holes 12 through 16 brought Hatton back into contention. The two ultimately finished tied after Fouillet closed with pars on her final two holes.

San José State placed three players inside the top 10. Freshman Regina Roldan finished T-3 at 1-over (68-78-71), while fellow freshman Kleopatra Kozakiewicz placed T-5 at 2-over (73-70-75). Junior Tessa Kremser finished T-8 at 4-over (73-74-73) and sealed the team victory with a birdie on the final hole.

Statistically, San José State led the field with 41 birdies and topped the tournament in par-4 scoring at +23, key factors in securing the narrow victory at Harding Park.
