San Francisco City Championship: Quarterfinals

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. (February 28, 2010) -- Quarterfinal results from the San Francisco City Championship are now available. Some information about the players left in the field (courtesy Ron Kroichick of the San Francisco Chronicle): The City wraps up this weekend with nary a mid-amateur in sight. Two men's semifinalists, Cory McElyea and Patrick Grimes, are high-school players; Eric Grimberg is a sophomore at St. Mary's; and George Gandranata -- the 2009 NCGA Amateur Champion -- finished his Cal career last year. All four women's semifinalists - defending champion Bonnie Hu, Jane Dong, Samantha Esguerra and Kortnie Maxoutopoulis - are East Bay prep standouts. For results, please click on the link below.
