University of South Florida star Rigel Fernandes shot an even-par 72 Friday and maintains a five-shot lead

MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (June 20, 2014) -- University of South Florida star Rigel Fernandes shot an even-par 72 Friday and maintains a five-shot lead entering Saturday's final round at the 2014 Rice Planter's Amateur at Snee Farm country Club. Fernandes has led from the start thanks to a 65-67 effort in his first two rounds. Zhongyang Fu and Travis Smyth are tied for second at 7-under. Smith shot 67 on Friday while Fu turned in a 69 to climb the leaderboard. Ryan Cole is fourth at 6-under while a group of four players, including Dru Love, the son of Davis Love III, is at 5-under. The Atkinson Cup, which is awarded to the low three-person team made up of players from the same college golf team, was won by Charleston Southern.
