The win gives Western Australia the double after Curtis Luck's victory in the NSW Strokeplay Medal

NSW, Australia (Feb. 4, 2014) -- Western Australian golfer Jarryd Felton won the 2014 NSW Amateur Championship. This gives WA the double after Curtis Luck's victory in the NSW Strokeplay Medal. Felton took the lead after 18-holes 1up, however Bannan continued to fight over the next 18. The match went down to the wire, Felton securing the victory on the 17th hole, winning 3/1. Concord Golf Club member Doey Choi (NSW) won the 2014 Women's NSW Amateur Championship. Choi stamped her dominance early on, leading 3up through 18. In a remarkable victory, the 13-year-old closed out the match against her more experienced opponent Ali Orchard (QLD) 5/4. The win follows on from a great few weeks of golf for Choi, who also performed well in the 2014 Women's Nicole Bessant was dominant from the outset of the 2014 Women's NSWLGU Salver, playing her best round of the tournament. She shot two under around the first nine, only allowing Schoeffel to win one hole on the 10th. Bessant was thrilled with the win, stating "it was the best I've played all week, so it was great timing". Schoeffel was gracious in defeat, remarking that 'she (Bessant) just played brilliantly today".
