Lottie Woad of Florida State leads the NCAA women's championships after round one

The 2024 ANWA winner shot 7-under 65, while Clemson leads the team competition by one shot over Texas A&M

Lottie Woad of Florida State continues to impress. 

The 2024 Augusta National Women's Amateur champion shot a first-round 7-under 65 to lead the NCAA Division I women's championships at the Champions Course at La Costa Resort and Spa in Carlsbad, Calif.

Woad, the No. 3 ranked player in the Golfweek/AmateurGolf.com Women's Rankings, recorded eight birdies and one bogey, including birdies on holes No. 4, 5, 7, and 8 coming into the clubhouse since she started on hole No. 10.

According to Florida State Athletics, her score of 65 tied her best and the school record for the lowest score in a single round.

Isabella Rawl of Clemson is in solo second place after a round of 6-under 66. Rawl led the Tigers to the team lead in round one, along with Annabelle Pancake, who is T8. Rawl also had an impressive performance en route to the Tigers runner-up finish at the ACC championships and is continuing that momentum early on in California. 

Adela Cernousek of Texas A&M, Maddison Hinson-Tolchard of Oklahoma State, Cayetana Fernandez-Garcia of Texas A&M, Sophie Linder of Ole Miss, and Louisa Carlbom of San Jose State are all T3 at 4-under. 

57 golfers shot even par or better in the first round on the Champions Course at La Costa.

Notable golfers Ingrid Lindblad of LSU is T58 at 1-over, Rachel Kuehn of Wake Forest is T38 at even par, Rachel Heck of Stanford, Latanna Stone of LSU, and Megan Schofill of Auburn are all T18 at 1-under

Clemson shot an impressive 8-under 280 in the team competition to take a round-one lead over Texas A&M, which shot 7-under 281 and is in solo second place.

Stanford, Auburn, and Northwestern are all T3 at 3-under, and San Jose State, Duke, and Arizona State are T6 at 2-under. 

All 30 teams will compete in the first three rounds, Friday through Sunday, in a 54-hole stroke play tournament.

The field will be cut to 15 teams for Monday's fourth and final round of stroke play. The top eight teams will move on to match play, with the quarterfinals and semifinals on Tuesday and the national championship match on Wednesday.
