DES MOINES, IA (July 28, 2005) -- Brian Verduyn of Clive won the 103rd Iowa Amateur Championship Wednesday. Verduyn birdied the final hole to post a 1-under 215 for the 54-hole event. He held off a hard-charging Joe Palmer and steady Jon Brown during the final round. This was the first 'major' win for the club champion at Des Moines Golf & CC.
"I did a good job of hanging in there and battling", Verduyn said. "This is everybody's club championship."
