After 36 holes of the Ben Hogan Collegiate Invitational at Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Tex., a familiar face in collegiate golf leads the way.
David Ford of North Carolina and Daniel Bennett of Texas are 6-under through the first two rounds, with Ford carding rounds of 69-65 and Bennett carding rounds of 65-69.
Ford is ranked No. 6 in the Golfweek/AmateurGolf.com World Rankings and has already recorded two top-ten finishes this season, finishing T8 at the Sahalee Player's Championship and T6 at the Fighting Illini Invite.
A duo of Auburn Tigers, Brenden Valdes and Billy Davis, are just one shot back and T3 at 5-under. They will look to lead the Tigers to the team win in the final round.
Luke Potter of Texas and Matthew Troutman of Oklahoma are T5 at 3-under. Four golfers are T7 at 2-under, and six golfers are T11 at even par.
In the team competition, Oklahoma leads by two shots at 9-under, while Texas is in solo second place at 7-under, and Auburn is in solo third place at 4-under.
Oklahoma has been one of the best teams in the nation recently, winning the Texas Valero Collegiate last week. The Sooners shot team rounds of 276-275 to get to 9-under and take the lead.
North Carolina is in solo fourth place at 2-under, and Arizona State and Georgia are T5 at 8-over.
