Coleman Invitational: Elliott Tops Elite Field

JUNO BEACH, FLORIDA (April 28, 2007) -- Gene Elliott’s final-round 77 Saturday at Seminole Golf Club was enough to claim the Coleman Invitational. Elliott finished at 4-over 220, then won a three-hole playoff with Chip Lutz. Lutz shot a final-round 69 to tie Elliott at 4 over par. Elliott entered the tournament ranked 32nd in the Golfweek/Titleist Amateur Rankings. Tommy Brennan and Patrick Tallent finished tied for third, one shot out of the playoff. Defending champion Eoghan O’Connell and Tim Jackson finished tied for fifth at 5 over par. O’Connell rebounded from an opening 81 with rounds of 71 and 70. His 2-under-par final round was the Saturday’s best. Vinny Giles shot a final-round 70 to finish at 5 over par and claim the senior title.
