After close calls, Pelletier gets the W at N.H. Stroke Play

Finally, Pat Pelletier got his state amateur victory. Pelletier had two runner-up finishes in July, but at Canterbury Woods Country Club, took home the New Hampshire Stroke Play Championship, his second win in the event. Pelletier finished at least nine strokes better than every other player in the field.

Pelletier had the lead from the first round on in the 72-hole event. Conditions were tough in the final round thanks to a strong wind, which drove up scores across the board for the morning round. Pelletier posted 1-over 73 for the first 18 of the day and was in range with his opponents. The next closest competitor was Ryan Kohler who was six shots back heading into the final round.

“This morning I didn’t really play that well but I kept it together,” Pelletier. “No one else went really that low so this afternoon I had the mindset to try and go a couple under and make someone go crazy low to beat me and luckily I came out on top.”

A closing 68 moved Pelletier to 15 under, which was nine shots better than runners-up Matthew Paradis and Ryan Kohler.
