Myrtle Beach, South Carolina (April 3, 2025) - Registration is now open for the 2025 Play Golf Myrtle Beach World Amateur Championship (World Am), the world’s largest amateur golf tournament. This year, the field is limited to the first 3,000 players to register and is expected to sell out quickly. Golfers can register online at myrtlebeachworldamateur.com.
Entering its 42nd year, The World Am combines world-class tournament operations and administration along with the magic of a Myrtle Beach golf experience to create a unique, competitive event that all golf enthusiasts—regardless of age, skill level or hometown—eagerly anticipate each year. The 2025 Championship is scheduled for August 25-29 and will be played at more than 50 award-winning courses on the Grand Strand, including Caledonia Golf and Fish Club, Tidewater, Barefoot Resort, TPC Myrtle Beach and more.
“To provide the most welcoming and competitive environment, our tournament team goes above and beyond to flight the competition based on age, gender and skill,” said Ryan Hart, Tournament Director, Golf Tourism Solutions. “The entire Myrtle Beach community is engaged and eager to host players from around the world for a magical week of golf and fun.”
Participants choose among Net, Gross and Just for Fun Divisions. Early registration (by May 22) is $649 per player and includes four rounds of golf at a different course each day, nightly access and a guest pass to the World’s Largest 19th Hole, a commemorative gift bag, and the opportunity to earn a spot in the Championship Playoff.
All flight winners will compete in the fifth round, the Championship Playoff, Friday, August 29, to determine the 2025 World Champion. Last year, after 12,000 rounds of golf were played, Upendra Modak of Charlotte, N.C., who was playing in the event for the ninth time, won the title of World Champion.
The 2024 event featured 2,664 men and 307 women with 94 percent of participants coming from outside the region including players from 49 different states and 17 different countries. The oldest player was 91 years old, and the youngest was 17 years old.
