Alberto Dominguez of Spain emerged victorious at the Balearic Cup in Llucmajor, Mallorca, after a dramatic final day at the Son Antem Golf Course. Dominguez posted rounds of 68-72-72-75 to finish at 1-under 287, clinching the title by a single stroke in a tournament defined by shifting fortunes.

Trailing by four shots heading into the final round, Dominguez’s 75 appeared unremarkable at first glance. But the overnight leader, Magnus Becker Frederiksen, struggled mightily, carding a shocking 82 to finish solo fifth at 2-over 290.

The tough scoring conditions on the last day saw Spaniard Pedro Marin record the lowest round, a gritty 71, as the rest of the field fought to stay afloat.

Ivan Anguita battled to a runner-up finish, ending just one shot behind Dominguez at even-par 288 with rounds of 70-71-71-76. Sharing third place at 1-over 289 were Denmark’s Emil Elkjaer Petersen, who had rounds of 71-74-70-74, and Spain’s Pedro Marin Santander, who closed with an impressive 71 after earlier rounds of 74-70-74.

The Balearic Cup, which featured 84 competitors, serves as the starting point for the Absolute and Under-18 National Rankings for 2025.

While defending champion Pablo Alperi did not participate, the tournament upheld its tradition of excellence, counting among its past champions 2023 Masters winner and LIV golfer Jon Rahm, who won the title as a teenager in 2011.
