Callaway is expanding its wedge lineup with the new Full Toe SP, a higher-toe, full-face-groove design built specifically for golfers who like to manipulate the face around the green.
Where a traditional wedge is generally shaped around a more conventional square-face setup, the Full Toe SP takes a different approach. Callaway designed it for the shots where golfers open the face, move impact higher and farther toward the toe, or need extra help creating height from bunkers and difficult lies. In Callaway’s words, the goal was to create the “most creative face in golf,” giving players more usable face area for the variety of shots that show up inside 100 yards.
A Shape Built for Open-Face Shots
The most noticeable difference is the new Full Toe shape, which raises the toe profile and provides additional face area compared to a traditional wedge.

That added area becomes particularly useful when the face is opened. Callaway’s testing found that strikes on those shots tend to move higher and more toward the toe, sometimes reaching areas where the grooves on a conventional wedge begin to disappear.
To address that, Spin Gen 2.0 grooves extend from heel to toe, giving the Full Toe SP 44% more groove area than a conventional-shaped wedge. The grooves also feature 17% tighter pitch spacing, creating additional groove-edge contact across the face.

For the golfer, the objective is simple: maintain more spin when contact moves away from the center, particularly from rough, bunkers and open-face shots around the green.
There is also additional offset incorporated into the Full Toe design. According to Callaway R&D Manager Brian Hurr, that offset can help increase launch on bunker shots, making it easier to produce the softer, higher shots that many players are looking for from the sand.
Callaway Pushes the CG Higher
The SP in Full Toe SP also connects this wedge to the Spin Pocket construction introduced in the Opus SP family.
By removing mass from lower in the head and redistributing it higher, Callaway has been able to raise the center of gravity substantially. The Full Toe shape gives its engineers even more room to work with, resulting in what the company says is its largest Spin Pocket and highest wedge CG to date.

According to Callaway, the Spin Pocket is 18% larger than SP+ and 35% larger than the standard Opus SP. The combination is designed to produce a lower-launching, high-spin flight when the face is square while still allowing golfers to generate higher-launching, high-spin shots when they open the face.
That distinction is important. Full Toe SP isn't simply intended to create one type of shot. Its construction is designed to give golfers more options depending on how the club is delivered.
Two Grinds Designed Specifically for Full Toe
Callaway also developed the sole options around how the Full Toe SP is intended to be played rather than simply carrying over its traditional wedge grinds.
The J Grind has lower effective bounce, aggressive heel relief and additional camber from heel to toe and front to back. That combination helps the face sit open while still maintaining enough stability for fuller swings. Callaway also says the added camber makes the sole more forgiving when the club enters the turf slightly behind the ball, helping retain more speed through impact.

The new JW Grind, available exclusively in 62 degrees, moves farther toward bunker forgiveness. It uses a wider sole and higher bounce so golfers can use the club effectively from the sand without needing to dramatically manipulate the face.

Callaway describes the JW as the wide-sole version of the J Grind, intended particularly for players who want additional help getting the ball up quickly from bunkers while retaining the ability to play high, creative shots around the green.

Who Is the Full Toe SP For?
The Full Toe SP is intentionally limited to 54, 56, 58, 60 and 62-degree lofts. Rather than functioning as a complete wedge set from gap wedge through lob wedge, Callaway sees it primarily as a sand- or lob-wedge option for players who want maximum versatility around the green.

Golfers who regularly open the face, play from different lies, or want more confidence from greenside bunkers will likely see the biggest benefit. The combination of a higher toe, full-face grooves, elevated CG and purpose-built sole designs makes Full Toe SP a distinctly different option from a conventional tour-style wedge.
The Callaway Full Toe SP wedges are available for pre-order beginning August 21, with retail availability starting September 4. Pricing is $199.99 per wedge, with lofts available from 54 through 62 degrees. Stock builds will feature a Dynamic Gold S200 shaft and Golf Pride Tour Velvet 360 grip.
