With second-round 67, Austin Eoff leads Arkansas Stroke Play

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — No rounds in the 60s were posted on day one of the Arkansas Stroke Play Championship as Austin Eoff and Brice Howard shared the lead at one-under 70. Six rounds in the 60s were turned in on Friday. But after Friday's second round, though both players are still the only golfers under par, Eoff has separated himself by four heading into the final round. Eoff, a native of Benton, Ark. who will be a junior at Purdue University this fall, shot 67 on Friday while Howard, who plays for Henderson State University in Arkansas, posted 71. Eoff's 67 was of standard variety, including five birdies and a bogey. However, Howard's round featured a bit more drama. The Hot Springs, Ark. native reached the 13th hole at even par having made all pars, a bogey, and a birdie. But then things got interesting. Howard made a devastating triple-bogey at the par-4 13th, but rebounded with three straight birdies on his final three holes to essentially erase the triple and remain under par through 36 holes. He holds a one-stroke lead over Wesley Harris for second place.
