West of Ireland: Jack Hume wins 1st major title

COUNTY SLIGO, Ireland (April 22, 2014) -- Jack Hume captured his first major title with a dramatic victory over Robbie Cannon in the championship match of the 2014 West of Ireland Championship at Sligo. Hume was two holes down with nine to play but fought back to even the match on No. 13. He would win Nos. 16 and 17 before icing it on the 18th with a 10-footer for par. "I was down early and got off to a bad start," Hume told the Irish Golf Desk. "I said to myself to be patient because I was playing well. I told myself grind it out and the first time I was up was on the 18th tee. I'm delighted." Hume had knocked off Gary Hurley in the morning semifinal match to advance to the championship while Cannon beat Reeve Whitson to advance.
