Welch Open Amateur: Craig Hinton blows away field

The Englishman finishes at 7-under-par, seven ahead Vaughn McCall, one of New Zealand's top amateurs

MONMOUTHSHIRE, Wales (May 27, 2012) -- Craig Hinton of the Oxfordshire GC shot rounds of 70 and 67 the final day to win the Welch Amateur Open Stroke Play by a margin of seven strokes. Hinton's tournament total of 7-under par 281 (69-64-70-67) on the par 72 Prestatyn GC was seven ahead of second place finisher, Vaughn McCall of Gore, who finished at even par 288 (72-75-70-71.) McCall is the reigning New Zealand Amateur champion. Sam Binning of Ranfurly Castle in Scotland finished in third at 1-over par 289 (74-74-70-71) while Scott Crichton of Abverdour in Scotland and Rhys Enoch of Truro in Wales carded 2-over-par 290's.
