Washington (WSGA) State Men's/Women's Member Club Team Championship

Semiahmoo G&CC Wins Women's Team Championship; High Cedars GC Wins Men's

ROSLYN, WA (June 6, 2006) -- The final round of the Inaugural Washington State Golf Association Member Club Team Championship concluded and two teams were crowned champions at the beautiful Prospector Course at Suncadia Golf Resort in Roslyn, Wash. The Women’s team from Semiahmoo G&CC located in Blaine, Wash. carded a final round 209 to come back and win the Women’s Division. In the Men’s Division, High Cedars GC located in Orting, Wash., continued their domination by putting together another strong round to win by a heavy margin of sixteen strokes. The Women’s team from Semiahmoo G&CC consisted of Teri Fisher, Sarah Cooper, Debbie Johnson and Donna Mendes-Frobb. The Men’s team from High Cedars GC consisted of Ken Shersty, Brian Stowe, Ken Armstrong and Dan Priem. Together, these teams will be marked as the first Member Club Team Champions of the WSGA. All players were given the option of playing in an individual competition that was held in conjunction with the team competition. In the Women’s Division, Sarah Cooper of Semiahmoo G&CC carded rounds of 85-72 with a two day total of 157 to win by two strokes over Cathy Uptain from Mill Creek CC in Mill Creek, Wash. In the Men’s Division, Ken Shersty of High Cedars GC won by a margin of four strokes by carding rounds of 70-75 with a two day total 145. The Inaugural WSGA Member Club Team Championship is a 36-hole championship that includes a Men's and Women's Division. The Men played the course at 6265 yards, par 72 and the Women played the course at 5452 yards, par 72. The format was as follows; each four-person team must be from the same WSGA Member Club and consist of either all Men or all Women. Each team counted one gross score and two net scores per hole for the team total each day.
