SANDWICH, ENGLAND (June 22, 2017) - Eight players remain at The 122nd Amateur Championship after a grueling day at Royal St. George's. The quarterfinalists each played two matches Thursday while enduring a lengthy weather delay, as lightning stopped play for over two hours. The final match of the day concluded in the fading light at around 8:30pm local time. Two Italians--Stefano Mazzoli and Luca Cianchetti--have made it to the final eight, along with Alejandro Tosti of Argentina, Dylan Perry of Australia, Jarle Kaldestad Volden of Norway, Paul McBride of Ireland, Harry Ellis of England, and Fredrik Nilehn of Sweden. The quarterfinal matches will tee off on Friday at 8:30am local time and it will be another full day of golf to pare the field down to the final two who will play for the championship on Saturday.
