After carding a 10-under 274 in Monday's first round, the Dores turned a six-stroke lead into a 17-shot advantage with a 17-under performance on Tuesday. At 27-under, Vanderbilt holds a 17-stroke lead over Tennessee and Mississippi State heading into Wednesday's final round at the Legends Club in Franklin, Tenn.
Sargent capped off a sensational round with an eagle on the 18th hole to finish with a 7-under 64.
Along with Sargent and Moll, Cole Sherwood (-5) is tied for eighth and Matthew Riedel (-4) sits in 11th place.
“I thought we played with a sense of urgency today and I’m really pleased with how we played a complete round,” said Vanderbilt head coach Scott Limbaugh. “Gordon looked rock solid all day and really finished the round strong. He made a 4-foot par putt on No. 10 that was huge for him. We had a lot of guys fighting to get and keep momentum which is always big."
