Vanderbilt ahead by one at Schenkel Invitational

Vanderbilt shot 15-under on day one and is in front of Auburn by a stroke at Georgia Southern's host tournament

STATESBORO, Ga. — Thanks to three players inside of the top-five, Vanderbilt holds a slim one-shot lead over Auburn after day one of the Schenkel Invitational. The event, hosted by Georgia Southern University at Forest Heights Country Club, was won by the host team in 2014. After the first round, Georgia Southern is nine shots back in fifth place. Commodore sophomore Mattias Schwab, of Austria, led the team on day one with a five-under 67. Teammates Theo Humphrey and Carson Jacobs are right behind him at 68 and are tied for fourth place. Schwab trails Auburn's Ben Schlottman by one in the individual race. Originally scheduled to conclude on Sunday, playing 18 holes each day, impending inclement weather on the final day forced tournament coordinators to decide to play the remaining 36 holes on Saturday, ahead of the storm.
