U.S. Women's Am: TV times and how to watch

The world's best female amateur head to Old Waverly Golf Club this week. Here's how to watch them compete.

It’s a big week in women’s amateur golf as the world’s best head to Old Waverly Golf Club in West Point, Miss., for the U.S. Women’s Amateur. The USGA received 1,375 entries for the championship, just shy of a record 1,468 submitted for this event last year.

A starting field of 156 players will compete at Old Waverly. Following 18-hole rounds of stroke play on Aug. 5-6, the field will be cut to the top 64 players for match play. Five 18-hole rounds of match play will determine the finalists who will square off in a 36-hole championship match.

Among the starting field of 156 players, 71 players are 18 years old or younger. The average age of Women’s Am competitors is 19.69 years old.

Defending champion Kristen Gillman has turned professional since her 2018 victory at the Golf Club of Tennessee, meaning a new player will take home the Robert Cox Trophy at the end of the week at Old Waverly. The player who does will also earn an exemption into the 2020 U.S. Women’s Open and the 2020 Augusta National Women’s Amateur, among other things.
