U.S. Collegiate: OK State climbs into lead

Oklahoma State's men's golf team will take a one-shot lead into the final round at the U.S. Collegiate Championship after posting a 281 during its second round on Saturday at The Golf Club of Georgia

ALHARETTA, Ga. - Oklahoma State's men's golf team will take a one-shot lead into the final round at the U.S. Collegiate Championship after posting a 281 during its second round on Saturday at The Golf Club of Georgia. The Cowboys entered the day trailing Georgia Tech by five shots at the par-72, 7,017-yard layout. However, OSU's four counting scores were under par and the Cowboys carded a 7-under team score, giving them a 36-hole total of 565, 11-under par, and moving them into first place. UCLA finished the day in third place at 573. Georgia Tech's Ollie Schniederjans posted a 69 to lead the individual race with a 135 total. OSU sophomore Jordan Niebruggecarded a 70 to get in at 139 and come in alone in second place. Senior Ian Davisfired the squad's low round of the day with a 69 to stand at 140 and tied for third place. Davis went out in 3-under 33 after a bogey-free front side that included three birdies. He moved to 4-under for the day with a birdie at the 12th before carding his lone bogey of the round at the 16th to come in at even-par 36. Freshman Zachary Olsen's71 gave him a 143 total and tied him for 20th place. Sophomore Wyndham Clark carded a 71 and senior Talor Goochposted his second consecutive 72 to each finish at 144 and tied for 25th place. Competing individually, senior Kevin Doughertysigned for his second 74 in a row to stand in a tie for 43rd place at 148. The Cowboys will look to earn their first victory of the fall season when they begin their final round tomorrow at 11:50 a.m. (EST). OSU will be grouped with UCLA and Georgia Tech.
