U.S. Amateur Playoff: 23 players for 8 Spots

Six groups beginning on the 10th hole at 8:00 a.m. EST will vie for the final eight spots in the match play field of 64

BLOOMFIELD HILLS, MI (August 17, 2016) -- When U.S. Amateur play began on Monday at Oakland Hills Golf Club there were 312 players in the field and it was only natural to assume that there would be a playoff to determine the final spots in the match play field. However, I'm just not sure anyone could have imagined a 23 player for eight spots playoff.

Beginning at 8:00 a.m. EST the 23 players that tied for 57th at even-par will play for the final eight spots. The 23 players will be split into six groups and the playoff will begin on the 10th hole before proceeding to the 11th, 17th and 18th.
