PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. (Dec. 1, 2014) — Tim Mickelson, brother of the most famous left-handed golfer in the world, Phil Mickelson, qualified for the U.S. Amateur Four-Ball Championship on Monday along with Jake Yount at Poppy Hills Golf Course.
Mickelson, now the head golf coach at Arizona State University, once coached Yount when Mickelson was head of the University of San Diego program.
Mickelson and Yount fired a best-ball score of 63, claiming medalist honors by one over brothers Jason and Ryan Higton.
Claiming the third and final qualifying spot at this site were Brady Exber and Kevin Marsh, who won a three-team playoff at 65.
Exber had a remarkable 2014 season on the senior amateur circuit while Marsh, the Crane Cup tournament director, recently won the Southern California Four-Ball with partner John Pate.
