Stuart Grehan wins again, this time at South of Ireland Amateur

The East of Ireland Amateur winner from early June did it again, defeating Colin Fairweather 4-and-3 in the championship match on Sunday

LAHINCH, Ireland — Stuart Grehan doubled his win total for the 2015 year, capturing the South of Ireland Amateur on Sunday with a 4-and-3 victory over Colin Fairweather. Grehan, the 22-year-old from Tullamore, was victorious at the East of Ireland Amateur in early June during a rain-shortened event. The tournament was cut to 54 holes for the first time in 75 years, with Grehan winning after posting scores of 67-69-76. This time, in a match play event, Grehan came out on top again. His semifinal match with Mark MacGrath, in which he won 2-and-1, sent him to the final where he bested Fairweather in persistent rain. “Winning two championships was on my dream list for this year,” Grehan told the Irish Examiner.
