St. Mary's and Pepperdine share the lead after 36 holes in a shootout at the Alister Mackenzie Invitational

FAIRFAX, Calif. (October 11, 2016) -- Low scores were the theme through the opening 36 holes at the Alister MacKenzie Invitational hosted by the Meadow Club. St. Mary's, coming off a runner-up finish at the Nick Watney Invitational, currently shares the lead with Pepperdine with a 36-hole of 544 (-24). Arizona State and Oregon State are only four shots behind after rounds of 548 (-20). North Carolina State sits in fifth after posting 549 (-19) St. Mary's juniors Perry Cohen and Connor Blick have led the charge for the Gaels thus far with back-to-back rounds in the 60's, each sitting at 8-under individually. Sahith Theegala is playing exceptionally well for Pepperdine with rounds of 64 (-7) and 67 (-4) for a 36-total of 131. He currently sits in solo second, one shot behind Arizona State's Ki Taek Lee who's posted 66 and 64 for a total of 130. Host and seven-time defending champion Cal Berkeley currently sits in a tie for ninth, 11 strokes off the lead. Sophomore Collin Morikawa fired rounds of 64 and 69 to lead the Bears. He'll head to nearby Napa Valley to play in the Safeway Open on Thursday.
