Poston jumped six places by firing a 5-under 65 to finish two shots clear of defending champion Kevin Dougherty and Max McGreevy

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (June 21, 2013) -- J.T. Poston of Hickory, North Carolina, made his first visit to the deserts of Arizona a good one in capturing the 98th Southwestern Amateur Poston jumped six places by firing a 5-under 65 in the final round to finish at 276 (-4), two shots clear of defending champion Kevin Dougherty of Murrieta, California, and Max McGreevy of Edmond, Oklahoma. “I felt good coming into today," Poston said. "I had lots of birdies yesterday but made some dumb bogeys. Today my warm-up was good and I had five birdies and no bogeys.” Anthony Maccaglia and Kyle Westmoreland used terrific closing rounds to finish tied for fourth place.
