San Francisco City Prequalifying Results

Amateurgolf.com member Jake Yount medals in the prequalifer with the cut falling at 75

SAN FRANCSICO, Calif. (Feb 24, 2012) -- The prequalifying for the qualifying rounds of the 96th San Francisco City was completed today at Lincoln Park Golf Course. The medalist was Jake Yount of Danville who fired a 4-under-par 65 on the short but challenging track. His round included six birdies and three bogeys.

Yount, who made a run at the professional ranks on the Canadian tour and other mini tours just got his amateur status back in December. The last time he played in the City was in 2005 as a junior in high school where he made it to the round of 8. Today's round marks his first round back as an amateur.

Asked about his round and his goals, Yount commented, "It felt real good and my goal is to make it past the elite 8 this year."

Those players who shot 75 or better will comprise the 48 who will advance to the weekend's two-day qualifier. Of that field of 144 the top 31 will advance to match play along with the defending champion, Brandon Hagy.
