Bay Area high school seniors Drew Karren and Dominic Salomone shared medalist honors at even-par 140. Salomone, a student at College Park High School, fired 69 at Lincoln Park and 71 at Presidio. Karren, a student at Miramonte High School, shot a 67 at Lincoln Park and 73 at Presidio. They will be the one and two seeds as defending champion Justin Suh will not return to defend his title. Salamone played in the 2015 First Tee Open at Pebble Beach; he was paired with Tom Purtzer. And Karren won two events in 2015, the Bay Regional at Tilden Park and the IJGT San Francisco Championship a year ago at Presidio, where he shot 75. The cut to the top 64 was made thirteen-over par 153, a number posted by six players. Four of them wiped the sweat off their brow when they learned that two players didn't show for the 6-for-4 playoff, meaning they all made it.
