San Diego Intercollegiate: Washington leads after round one

Washington leads after round one. USC and San Diego State are in chase.

CHULA VISTA, Calif. (Feb. 13, 2012) -- After the first round of the San Diego Intercollegiate held at the San Diego Country Club, the University of Washington held the lead at 284. USC was four back at 288. San Diego State was in third at 294 and the University of Tennesee held fourth place at 295. Co-hosting with San Diego State, UC San Diego shot 306 and was in eighth place. Chris Williams of Washington and Martin Trainer of USC had the lowest score in the opening round with a 2-under par 70. Seven of the 15 schools in the field are ranked in the nation's top 50, headlined by No. 4 UCLA, No. 5 Washington, No. 8 Stanford and No. 12 Southern Cal. Two-time defending national champion Augusta State is also in the field. The second round was not completed and was suspended due to darkness. The teams will finish round two tomorrow morning and then round three will have a shotgun start.
