Ryan Grider places fifth for low-am honors at Oklahoma Open

Class-of-2017 golfer from Lewisville, Texas Ryan Grider grabs fifth place, finishing four back at Oak Tree Country Club

EDMOND, Okla. — Ryan Grider, a class-of-2017 golfer from Lewisville, Texas, grabbed fifth place at the Oklahoma Openm finishing four back of winner Josh Creel at Oak Tree Country Club in Edmond. Grider, who has not yet committed to play for a university, was only two back of the lead through 36 holes. Professional Chris Gilbert and amateur Ty Stites held the lead at 6-under par, but neither ended up with the title. Gilbert took second, three back of Creel, while Stites shot a final-round 76 and fell back into a tie for 12th. Grider opened the tournament with back-to-back 68s, and was in contention for the championship on the back nine but made double bogeys on holes 11 and 17. Another amateur finishing inside the top-10 was Edmond, Okla. native Austin Eckroat, who shot 68 on Sunday to finish in a tie for sixth place.
