Riversdale Cup: Jake Higginbottom is victorious

Higginbottom maintains his 7 stroke lead to take the Riversdale Cup title

ST. JOHN'S WOOD, Victoria, Australia (Feb. 18, 2012) -- Jake Higginbottom of New South Wales ran away from the field and never looked back. He started his day seven strokes ahead of defending champion Nathan Holman. His final round of 69 gave him a four round total of 269, 19-under-par and was seven ahead of second place finisher Daniel McGraw. McGraw made a run the final day finishing with a 64 that matched Higginbottom's tournament record low he set the first round. McGraw finished up at 276 (70-74-68-64.) Cameron Smith who recently won the Australian Amateur Stroke Play, finished in third at 278 (71-69-70-68.) A trio finished up at 281 that included Lake Macquarie champion Daniel Nisbet (70-72-67-72,) Rory Bourke (66-71-71-73,) and Christopher Brown (69-72-67-73.) This is Higginbottom's first win of the year. Last year he won the Keppera Bowl and recently was a semifinalist at the New South Wales Amateur.
