Sebring, FL - (January 8, 2005) Morgan Pressel of Boca Raton, Florida held off challengers Julieta Granada and Ashley Hoagland to win the Harder Hall Women's Invitational today by 2 strokes.
Pressel fired a final-round 72 to finish with a tournament record 9-under par 279 total. Granada, the reigning U.S. Girls’ Junior champion from Paraguay, notched her second consecutive 68 to share runner-up honors with Ashley Hoagland (67) at 281. Leah Wigger, a sophomore at the Univ. of Virginia, struggled on the greens down the stretch, shooting 76 to finish alone in fourth.
The victory was another rung on the ladder of amateur golf success for the 16-year-old Pressel, who at age 12 was the youngest player to qualify for the US Women's Open.
