Picard Cup: Bowen Osborn and Devon Hopkins finish on top

Osborn/Hopkins win the Mid-Am title, while Tom Laubaucher and Nick Lambos win the Senior at Cleveland's Canterbury Golf Club

Bowen Osborn and Devon Hopkins won the mid-amateur division of the 27th playing of the Picard Cup at venerable Canterbury Golf Club in Cleveland with a winning score of 11-under 205, good for a three-stroke win over Joe Deraney and Nick Biesecker.

Osborn, a former Arizona and Minnesota State Amateur champion, and Hopkins, the 2019 Florida Mid-Amateur Stroke Play champion, were nursing a one-stroke lead heading into the final hole and a birdie on the last coupled with a bogey by Deraney and Biesecker accounted for the final margin. Both teams carded final rounds of 65 (-7) to share low honors for the day.

Canterbury members Andrew Bailey and John Ebert shot a final round score of 67 (-5) to finish alone in third place at 6-under 210. Andy Hire and Tim Skufca finished fourth at 211 (-5) while Charlie Keene and Rob Garland rounded out the top-five at 4-under 212 following a final round of 68.


Senior division winners Nick Lambos and Tom Laubaucher
In the senior amateur division, Nick Lambos and Tom Laubaucher went wire-to-wire for their second consecutive victory. The duo shot 69 (-3) in the better-ball portion of the tournament to share low round honors with Canterbury members Fred DiSanto and Larry Joseph and Mark Nickerson and Mike Davis.

Lambos and Laubaucher stayed hot in the alternate shot, shooting 69 (-3) to open a 7-shot lead over DiSanto and Joseph heading into the better ball final round. The duo prevailed with an even par 72 to finish at 210 (-6) and a seven-stroke victory.
