He’ll have a one-stroke advantage over the field when the final round commences early Saturday morning.
Karl Vilips (Western Perth, Australia) sits in second place at 6-under par 204 after signing for a 1-over par 71. Palmer Jackson (Murrysville, Pa.) fired a 64 and stands at 4-under par 206 along with Jonathan Yaun and Ryan Hall, who recorded rounds of 65 and 66 respectively.
A total of 14 players are under par for the 54 holes. Phillips (69-68-66) and McAllister (69-69-69) are the only two to better 70 all three days.
Phillips, who turned 21 on May 28, recently completed his junior season at Georgia, where he is a three-time first-team All-SEC choice. He also competed in the recent Palmer Cup.
Inman started his Friday four shots off the pace, but recorded three birdies on his outward nine and turned in 3-under par 32. He went on to birdie the par-5 11th and the par-4 13th to move to eight under par for the tournament. His only stumble came when he bogeyed the par-5 16th.
Vilips, who sat on the 36-hole lead at 7-under par, had a rough start to his Friday round. The Stanford product bogeyed four of his first seven holes and turned in 4-over par 39 before playing his last nine holes in three under par.
Fifty-three players survived the 54-hole cut, which came at 5-over par 215. Saturday’s final round will utilize a split-tee start.
