Austin Langdale records eight birdies and leads the Palmetto Amateur after day one

AIKEN, S.C. (June 7, 2012) -- Austin Langdale, Townville, S.C., leads the Palmetto Amateur after a wild ride that consisted of eight birdies, two bogeys and one double. All of that added up to a 66 and one stroke lead over Billy Kennerly of Alphareta, Ga. who carded 67.

Six players are three strokes back and tied for third with first round 69's.

The Palmetto Amateur is a 72- hole stroke play event held on a classic Alister MacKenzie design. The field of 84 is selected from applicants based on handicap, participation in amateur golf events and competitive record, in previous Palmetto Amateurs and other amateur tournaments.
