The stage is set for a pair of championship matches on Saturday at Black Butte Ranch

BLACK BUTTE RANCH, OR (June 24, 2016) -- The semifinals are complete and the men’s and women’s championship matches are set at the 107th Oregon Amateur Championship, held June 20-25 at Black Butte Ranch – Glaze Meadow in Black Butte Ranch, Ore. Gigi Stoll (Tigard, Ore.) will look to win a third-consecutive Oregon Women’s Amateur title on Saturday. She’ll face off against Krissy Peterson (Canby, Ore.). The women’s championship match will be played tomorrow, Saturday, June 25th at 8:15 AM off the first tee. The men’s championship match features Brian Humphreys (Washougal, Wash.) and Conner Barr (Beaverton, Ore.). The men’s match will tee off tomorrow morning, Saturday, June 25th at 8:00 AM off the first tee. Both matches will be comprised of 36 holes, and both will be played at the Glaze Meadow Course at Black Butte Ranch. Stoll advanced to her fourth-straight championship match after defeating Lynsie Furuya (Vancouver, Wash.) 5 and 4. The match was back-and-forth early, and the two players were all-square after six holes. But Stoll then won the next five holes, 7-11, and a par on the par-3 14th hole sealed her victory. Peterson advanced to her first Oregon Women’s Amateur final by defeating last year’s runner-up, Madison Odiorne (Bend, Ore.). Peterson won four of the last five holes on the front nine and took a 3-up lead going into the back nine. Odiorne cut Peterson’s lead to 1-up after the 13th hole, but Peterson won the 14th and 15th holes, halving the 16th hole for a 3 and 2 win. Humphreys, an incoming freshman at Boise State University, advanced to the men’s championship match by defeating Max Murai (Beaverton, Ore.) 6 and 4 in the morning quarterfinal match, and then beat Montana Frame (Reedsport, Ore.) 6 and 5 in the afternoon semifinal. In the morning quarterfinal, Humphreys trailed early but then reeled off wins on five of the final six holes on the front side, and lead 3-up heading into the second nine, a lead that was large enough to sustain. Against Frame in the semifinal, Humphreys never lost a hole, resulting in another large win on Friday. Barr also won by a large margin in the quarterfinals, a 6 and 5 win over Jaime Delgado (Hillsboro, Ore.). In his semifinal match, the recent graduate from Northern Colorado University battled with Alex Wrenn (Lake Oswego, Ore.). The back-and-forth match featured only five halved holes, and he sealed his win on the par-3 17th for a 2 and 1 win.
