Oklahoma continues to lead Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate

ALPHARETTA, GA (October 22, 2016) -- On a breezy day at The Golf Club of Georgia No. 9 Oklahoma was able to maintain their lead at the Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate. Oklahoma, 2-under, is the only team under-par after 36-holes and they lead No. 22 Texas A&M and No. 7 Virginia by two-strokes. "Today wasn't our best as a team, but we put ourselves with a great opportunity for tomorrow," head coach Ryan Hybl told Oklahoma Athletics. "Max (McGreevy) played another great round today, and we need to get everyone going tomorrow in order to win this thing." Through two days Boomer Sooner has been led by the 7-under Max McGreevy. The senior has posted scores of 68-69 thus far and has bogeyed just three holes over the course of two days. During the second round McGreevy, in second place, rolled in five birdies and bogeyed twice. The birdies came on Nos. 2, 3, 12, 13 and 18. Also playing well for Oklahoma are sophomore Blaine Hale (T14; -1) and sophomore Brad Dalke (T17; +1). The top-five of the team standings are rounded out by a trio of teams tied for fourth; No. 18 USC, Duke and No. 8 Wake Forest. All three teams are 2-over and just four off the lead. Virginia's Jimmy Stanger is 9-under and still atop the individual standings. Stanger followed up his 67 with a 4-under 68. The round began with a birdie but bogeys followed on the next two holes. However, from then on it was a flawless round that included five birdies. The circles came on Nos. 5, 6, 9, 12 and 17. Doug Ghim of Texas and Duke's Chandler Eaton are in third at 6-under while Texas A&M's Chandler Phillips and USC's Andrew Levitt share fifth at 4-under. -Oklahoma Athletics contributed to this story
