MAYETTA, KS (August 10, 2014) — It was no
contest for Brad Nurski at the 2014 Midwest
Cup.
Representing his home state of Missouri, the
two-time Missouri Mid-Amateur winner shot
14-under over three rounds at Firekeeper Golf
Course in Mayetta, KS to win the event by
nine
shots.
Nurski shot 66 and 65 on Friday and Saturday,
only needing a 71 on Sunday to still claim a
large margin of victory.
Finishing in second place was the steady
Danny
Behm of Wisconsin, who shot rounds of 70, 71,
and 70 to finish four strokes ahead of a slew of
players tying for third place.
In the team portion of the event, a thrilling
neck-and-neck finish that came down to the
final
groups took place. Team Minnesota closed
with a
flourish to score 391 points, overtaking first-
round leader Missouri with 379 points. After a
one-hour rain delay on Sunday, in which team
captain Andy Jacobson realized his team was
well behind, he gave the troops a "stay
focused"
directive. The team responded and the Cup
returned to Minnesota for the second time in
three years.
