North Florida wins General Hackler Championship

In second place entering the final round, North Florida, led by senior Joey Petronio, came from three back to win by 12

MYRTLE BEACH, Calif. — NC State sophomore Jacob McBride shot 70-68 in Monday's first two rounds to give his Wolfpack team a three-shot lead at the General Hackler Championship. But North Florida, led by senior Joey Petronio, sat in second place after the first two rounds and came from three behind to win by 12 on Tuesday at The Dunes Golf & Beach Club in Myrtle Beach. Junior Austin Padova shot the lowest round of the day for the Ospreys, a 69, as the team posted one-under 287 on the final day to claim the victory. Petronio tied for first place individually with two others players, including Zach Seabolt of Winthrop and Nike Voke of Iowa State. The players were three of just five players to shoot under par over the 54-hole event, hosted by Coastal Carolina University. The Wolfpack from NC State lead the team competition by three after the first two rounds thanks to opening rounds from McBride and Page. But the pair struggled on Tuesday as McBride shot 79 while Page posted 81.
